Description

Mahon Garden Centre was established in 1988 by the Eakins family and is now a leading plant orientated, independent Garden Centre supplying plants from all over Ireland and the UK, Holland and Italy. The business now covers over four acres. Mahon Garden Centre is owned by Robert and Andrew Eakins. We are both actively involved in the day-to-day operation of the business, assisted by 8 (full time and part time) staff.


Company description
We are well-placed to supply a wide selection for any garden. We have brought our in depth plant knowledge and attention to quality, to the sourcing of stock from many specialist growers to enable us to offer unusual and interesting material which is rarely found in Northern Ireland. Our focus is on the best possible plant products and providing visitors with advice for their garden. Trees - A large selection in excess of 500 in many varieties including fruit trees. Shrubs and conifers - Over 30, 000 on site, many unusual or difficult to obtain varieties. Roses - An extensive range of bush roses, climbers, patio miniatures, ground cover, including Flower Carpet roses, standards and half- standards, Old English Roses, David Austin roses.
Alpine and heathers - All again locally produced, a very wide selection that changes and is updated on a fortnightly basis throughout the season. Perennials - We avail of the best local producers to supply an interesting range that includes old favourites and the newest varieties, including a large selection of Hostas. Vegetable Plants, seed potatoes, onion sets, Garlic etc. Specimen plants - Specimen stock including topiary, clipped shapes, ball, cone, spirals, Box trees, Bay trees, Tree ferns (Dicksonia), Palms, (trachycarpus fortunei), specimen bamboos, conifers and many others. Bedding and patio plants - Over 50, 000 geraniums, fuchsias, surfinia petunias, begonias, pansies, primroses, marguerites, osteospermums - the list is almost endless, most grown on our premises.
The choice in the glasshouse is the widest we know of. Fruit - A wide selection of soft fruit and top fruit, plants and trees including Coronet miniature fruit trees to suit the ground or containers. Great garden centre. Pity the staff couldn't learn some customer relations by at least saying thanks instead of a grunt.
